Boat shoes, from dirty to dazzling

For a lot of people boat shoes are the preferred footwear choice in warmer weather. These leather shoes have a special sole for griping during the conditions on board a boat. The leather uppers are treated to help protect the feet from water. If you do not treat the leather of your boat shoes they will eventually crack with the constant covering of salt water. You should treat your boat shoes with products such as water proofing wax and or silicone spray. If you look after your boat shoes they will give you years of comfy use.

When cleaning your boat shoes you should wipe with damp cloth evenly. Pay special attention to where the leather upper meets the sole, remove all mud and dirt that has collected. Rinse the sole if they need it and allow to dry naturally, do not soak the shoe.

Apply to your boat shoes the waterproofing in a smooth even motion. This is great if you have a darker upper on your boat shoes, if its lighter waxing will darken it down. If you have lighter boat shoes you will want to use the waterproofing spray instead. Before first contact with salt water we recommend the use of either of these products on your boat shoes. Both waterproofing wax and waterproofing spray together with a fantastic range of men’s and ladies boat shoes are available at Newforestfootwear.com .
